About Neisseria Meningitidis

Neisseria meningitidis is a bacteria that cause meningococcal meningitis. This bacteria can be transmitted through coughing, sneezing, and kissing. Neisseria meningitidis can even be transmitted indirectly through soft cheeses, hot dogs, and some sandwich meats. Neisseria meningitidis bacteria primarily attacks the brain and spinal cord.

Symptoms of patients can be shown within 24 hours. Symptoms of neisseria meningitidis disease include: General poor feeling, high fever, severe persistent headache, neck stiffness, nausea or vomiting, discomfort in bright lights, drowsiness or difficulty awakening, joint pain, and confusion or other mental changes. Among patients experiencing a severe symptoms, toxic phase infections include: tense or bulging soft spot (in babies), high-pitched or moaning cry (in babies), stiff, jerky movements or floppiness (in babies or toddlers), irritability, fast breathing, excessive sleepiness, blotchy skin, turning pale or blue, shivering, or cold hands and feet, and seizure

The bacterias incubation time is 24 hours and the duration of the disease is 10 days.
